El infractor será "pillado" a través de una cámara y luego el monto a pagar le llegará a su casa.
Medellín es, desde ahora, la primera ciudad del país en imponer comparendos de tránsito a
través de cámaras de vigilancia, los cuales le llegarán a la casa al infractor.
La próxima vez que conduzca su vehículo en las calles de Medellín, piénselo bien antes de
cometer una infracción de tránsito. Como ocurre en España, Estados Unidos y Francia, sólo por
mencionar algunos países, en la capital paisa, a través de cámaras de video, se sancionará a
los infractores. Luego el comparendo con las fotografías que sustentan la multa le llegará a su
casa.
“Les va a llegar la cartica a domicilio y se van a sorprender de cómo los pillaron un día que
pensó que nadie lo veía. Tendrán las pruebas que son incontrovertibles. Así esperamos bajar la
accidentalidad en un 40% tal y como ha ocurrido en los países donde se tiene la
medida”,aseguró el alcalde Alonso Salazar.
Actualmente hay instaladas para este fin 30 cámaras de video. Para el primer semestre de 2010
se espera habilitar otras 80 y 100 más de foto multas. Estas últimas no requieren ser
manipuladas y serán utilizadas para controlar excesos de velocidad, parqueo en zonas
prohibidas y semaforización.
“Vamos a invertir 30 mil millones de pesos en la implementación del sistema inteligente de
transporte que incluye, además de las cámaras de vigilancia y foto multas, censores de
velocidad, semáforos para invidentes y con conteo regresivo y paneles de mensajes en la vía.
Todo el sistema lo estamos contratando con Une y otro socio internacional y la inversión
esperamos recuperarla en un año y medio con las mismas multas de los infractores, pues
actualmente se tiene un promedio de 50 mil comparendos día en la ciudad”, dijo el Secretario de
Transportes y Tránsito de Medellín, Ricardo Smith Quintero.
Desde este miércoles y hasta el 31 de enero los comparendos serán pedagógicos, pero a partir
del primero de febrero se iniciará el cobro. No importa si se trata de un vehículo de otra ciudad,
pues gracias al RUNT (Registro Único Nacional de Tránsito) se obtienen los datos del
propietario del vehículo infractor y el comparendo le llegará a la casa, en cualquier lugar del
país.
